HOW INN CHRISTIAN MINISTRIES OBTAINS YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION

1) YOU GIVE IT TO US DIRECTLY – You may give us your information when you make a donation, attend an event or meeting, sign up for information about our upcoming events and newsletters or otherwise give us your personal information.

2) WHEN YOU GIVE PERMISSION TO OTHER PARTIES TO SHARE IT WITH US – Independent third parties may share your information with us because you have indicated that you wish to support Inn Christian Ministries with your consent. Some third parties we work with include Eventbrite and Mailchimp. You can check their Privacy Policy to understand how they propose to process your information. We may be able to obtain information about you if a supporter passes your details to us.

3) WHEN YOUR INFORMATION IS AVAILABLE PUBLICLY OR FROM EXTERNAL SOURCES – We may use information about you, which is publicly available such as on social media to gain a better understanding of you and to help us to improve our activities. This information could be combined with information we already have about your previous involvement or support, your interests and lifestyle or socio-demographic information. Information shared with us by third parties may depend on your privacy settings or you may have given permission for a company to share your data with a third party such as a charity. You may have given permission on social media platforms for us to access information from your social media accounts. Please review your privacy settings on social media. We may obtain information about you from publicly available sources such as Companies House.

WHAT INFORMATION WE COLLECT

Any information that can be used to identify you is deemed personal information and includes your name, email, postal address, etc. If you choose to hear from us, we will need to hold this information about you. In some instances, such as if you are a UK taxpayer and claiming Gift Aid your donation, we must hold your name and address in our records for 6 years for HMRC inspection.

Data protection law identifies some types of information about you as sensitive. This includes information about your ethnic origin, religious beliefs, health etc. We will only collect sensitive information where there is a clear need to do so and to ensure that we only contact you with information that is relevant to your interests.

HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION

How we use your information will depend on why you shared it with us.

We use your information to contact you about the ministries, events and information you said you were interested in, such as public outreach meetings, prayer initiatives, overseas work and sponsorship of orphans. You will be able to choose how you want to be contacted and you can ask to be removed from our communications list by emailing inncm@inn.org.uk

We use your personal information to claim gift aid on your donations and to maintain accurate financial records.

DO WE SHARE YOUR INFORMATION?

We do not sell your details to any third parties.

Inn Christian Ministries staff and trustees may use your details for the purposes of marketing communications and financial administration. Occasionally we may share your information with our trusted third party service providers who will be commissioned to undertake administrative or financial auditing activities.

We may also share information with our financial and legal advisers for the purposes of obtaining advice and protecting our legal rights. Protecting your personal data is important to us and we use strict procedures and security features to ensure only authorised persons have access.
